Malvern Zetasizer Nano ZS.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
<title>INTRODUCTION</title><p>INTRODUCTION. The article is devoted to the data concerning the safety control of platelet concentrate (PC). Due to the increased need for the use of this blood component, the assessment of its quality and safety has received increased attention.</p>
<title>OBJECTIVE</title><p>OBJECTIVE. Evaluate a promising approach to assess the quality of PC to improve the efficacy and safety of its transfusions.</p>
<title>MATERIALS AND METHODS</title><p>MATERIALS AND METHODS. The object of the study was apheresis PCs. After harvesting, each PC sample was examined for microparticle content. The index was measured before and after the PC pathogenreduction procedure. Measurement of platelet microparticle sizes in PC samples was performed by the dynamic light scattering method based on the determination of the diffusion coefficient of colloidal particles in liquid on a nanoparticle size analyzer Malvern Zetasizer Nano ZS.</p>
<title>RESULTS</title><p>RESULTS. The possibilities and advantages of a rational approach to PC transfusion are revealed taking into account the degree of platelet activation for optimization of component procurement . Special attention is paid to the methods of platelet activation assessment in PC. Transfusion of non-activated platelets for use in hematologic and oncologic patients will reduce the risk of refractoriness development.</p>
<title>DISCUSSION</title><p>DISCUSSION. Detection of microparticles based on DLS will allow differentiating activated (with high microparticle content) from non-activated (with low microparticle content) platelets during therapeutic transfusions and optimize the use of this scarce blood component.</p>
<title>CONCLUSION</title><p>CONCLUSION. The ability to differentiate PTs based on screening of the microparticle content resulting from activation will improve the efficacy and safety of transfusion therapy.</p>
заданию № 124031500048-8</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The work was carried out within the framework of research and development work under State assignment No. 124031500048-8.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Rebulla P.
