<trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
<title>INTRODUCTION</title><p>INTRODUCTION: Ensuring Russia’s presence in all regions of the oceans requires trained personnel on board to provide medical care in everyday conditions as well as in case of emergency situations.</p>
<title>OBJECTIVE</title><p>OBJECTIVE: To study the features of crew members’ training in providing medical care, to identify the main problems in this sphere and to develop solutions.</p>
<title>MATERIALS AND METHODS</title><p>MATERIALS AND METHODS: The analysis of regulatory legal framework of international and governmental levels was performed. Educational and methodological materials of training and medical assistance on board ship from 2012 to 2022 were studied.</p>
<title>RESULTS</title><p>RESULTS: The analysis of the requirements of the legislative acts found inconsistencies in the international and state legislation on the crew members’ training of medical care on board ships.</p>
<title>DISCUSSION</title><p>DISCUSSION: Currently providing first medical aid service by responsible persons on board ship to the crew members, regulated by «the Maritime Labour Convention», contradicts the national legislation in the healthcare sector. The status of a person, responsible for the first aid and care for the sick and injured on board ship, their admittance to medicines, including narcotic and psychotropic as a part of first aid kit in the territory of Russia is not stated.</p>
<title>CONCLUSION</title><p>CONCLUSION: During the study some solutions of the existing inconsistencies in the legislative acts of the Russian Federation and international conventions were offered.</p>
</trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>морская медицина</kwd><kwd>конвенция</kwd><kwd>первая помощь</kwd><kwd>медицинская помощь</kwd><kwd>медицинский уход</kwd><kwd>стандарт компетентности</kwd><kwd>члены экипажей судов</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>marine medicine</kwd><kwd>convention</kwd><kwd>first aid</kwd><kwd>medical care</kwd><kwd>medical treatment</kwd><kwd>standard of competence</kwd><kwd>crew members of vessels</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Мосягин И. В.
